Why is Israel focusing on Al Jazeera?

Benjamin Netanyahu says the community will now not broadcast from Israel as a result of it threatens nationwide safety.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has promised to close down Al Jazeera in Israel.

Calling it a “terrorist channel”, he accused the community of harming nationwide safety and actively taking part within the Hamas-led assault on Israel on October 7.

Al Jazeera says the allegations are reprehensible and threaten the rights and security of its workers around the globe.

Media freedom teams are involved and warn that Israel is making an attempt to censor protection of the battle in Gaza.

However this isn’t the primary time Israel has focused Al Jazeera or its journalists.

So what affect will this ban have on its protection? And what are the broader implications for the broadcaster?
