A video going viral this week shows a woman living on a fixed budget blaming the Lakewood City Council in Colorado for allowing illegal immigrants to flood into her city.
Woman appeals to Lakewood City Council
The woman, who has not been identified, warns of the current “tsunami” of illegal immigration while law-abiding citizens like her are suffering.
He conservatively estimated that housing approximately 40,000 illegal aliens a year would cost the city of Denver $480 million a year alone, with an additional $96 million cost to feed those illegal immigrants. Lakewood City residents retaliate
The woman was one of several who came to a Lakewood City Council meeting earlier this month to express their concerns after watching the nearby city of Denver spend millions on illegal immigrants. CPR reported that Denver has spent nearly $42 million on temporary shelter and services for 38,505 illegal aliens who arrived through the end of 2022.
At a Lakewood City Council meeting, local residents expressed their fears about crime and the cost of public services and housing, holding signs that read, “Don't Denver our Lakewood.”
Local resident Don Austin told the City Council, “What you're seeing tonight is informed voters who have seen the decline of Denver, and don't want the same here.”
Other residents said they are tired of illegal aliens coming to grocery stores, parking lots and other public places looking for work.
“This community can't afford it,” said former City Councilwoman Remi Johnson, who has helped organize locals to express concerns. “It's not that we're not a compassionate community. We are, but we can't care about the world.

Alarm bells ringing for Lakewood City residents
