Rachel Maddow labored on NBC Information and Ronna McDaniel

[

Rachel Maddow tells the story that some at NBC don't want to be told about Ronna McDaniel's appointment, democracy and NBC News.

Maddow said:

We have many such people. But our generation's version of this man has gone way further than everyone else. and why is that? If he had not been able to associate himself with an institution like the Republican Party and the leader of that party during his time had not decided that she would listen to him, she would help him, he too would have been forgotten like everyone else. . She will help in its worst situation.

It is my understanding that MSNBC leadership did not object to Ronna McDaniel being hired by NBC News when this matter first came to light, but when the appointment was announced, and the MSNBC staff was essentially unanimous, and immediately expressed outrage, then our leadership at MSNBC listened to us, understood, and adjusted course. This weekend we were told in no uncertain terms that Ronna McDaniel would not be on our broadcast. Ronna McDaniel will not be on MSNBC. And I say that and give you that level of detail because there has been an effort by other parts of the company to muddy it up in the press and make it seem like it didn't happen at MSNBC. I can assure you that is what happened at MSNBC. Ronna McDaniel will not appear on MSNBC starting Saturday, our boss says. And it has never been anything but obvious.

And I will also say that if you care what I think about this, I will tell you the fact that Ms. McDaniel is on the payroll at NBC News is, to me, an incomprehensible thing. You wouldn't – you wouldn't hire an intelligent person, you wouldn't hire a guy built like a mobster to work in the DA's office, right?

You wouldn't hire a pickpocket to work as a TSA screener. And so I find the decision to keep him on the payroll incomprehensible. And I hope they reverse their decision. And this is not about, you know, the Democratic Party, the Republican Party. This is not about partnership. It's not about right vs left. It's not about being a political professional versus any other type of person. This is not about behaving badly or being nice to journalists. This is not just about Donald Trump and his timing and his association with the Republican Party. It's not even about lying or not lying.

This is about our system of government and undermining elections and going after democracy as an ongoing project, right? And this is a difficult time for us as a country, and I think that means we need to be clear-eyed about the implications of this. Difficult decisions have to be taken in difficult times. We are struggling with something we have never had to struggle with before. In the news business, yes, we're covering an election, which we do all the time. But we are also covering bad elements trying to use the rights and privileges of democracy to subvert democracy. The main threat among them now comes not from rioters and hooligans, but from cunning political professionals who are focusing their attention on the fact that the election results are not genuine, and should not be respected.

Now we are facing it not with the brown shirt militia of William Dudley Pelley, but with a massive billion-dollar political campaign by one of the two ruling parties of the United States. And that's new. And when our country is facing such a challenging, scary, and nationally dangerous situation, I think bad decisions will inevitably be made. Mistakes will happen. But part of our resilience as a democracy is going to be
Recognizing, allowing us to recognize when decisions are bad. And reversing those bad decisions. Listening to legitimate criticism, responding to it, and making course corrections. No digging, no blaming others. take a minute. Accept that maybe it wasn't the right call. Admitting when you are wrong is not a sign of weakness, but of strength. This is a sign of strength. And our country needs us to be strong right now.

That is about democracy. It's about letting a henchman of the authoritarian fox into the hen home and giving the fox a central platform to assist destroy democracy.

Some at NBC Information have tried to spin a unique story and make it seem that there was in truth no revolt by workers and reporters in opposition to McDaniel's appointment. They wish to present that doorways are open for McDaniel to look on MSNBC.

Rachel Maddow defined that the door was closed, and he or she known as officers of her employer and NBC Information' prized new rent to place it into context.

It's not about Republicans or Democrats.

All that issues is the way forward for our democracy.
