Positioned about 200 km (125 miles) from the capital, the farmers have been deployed on the Shambhu border since final week, after they first tried to march into the town. Officers clashed with protesters and fired tear fuel and plastic bullets to cease them. The march was stopped after ministers invited farmer leaders for talks.
