Google has announced an update to its advertising policies that officially bans ads with fake endorsements. The policy, which will come into effect from next month, also bans advertising that impersonates a public figure or brand to promote a product or service.

The change comes after Google previously claimed that ads with fake endorsements were already violating its rules, suggesting that dealing with such ads was business as usual.
