Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) is becoming more frustrated by the day.
The Louisiana congressman last week cleared the FBI of spying on Americans without a warrant. Johnson was the deciding vote. Johnson also gave the Democrats everything they requested on a spending bill designed to bankrupt the country and drive up historic inflation.
And on Monday Johnson said he was prepared to finance the hapless Ukraine war.
Johnson is not able to fight against the Uniparty faction so he joins them once again.
Reporter: What the Plan Lands Republicans say they're hearing from constituents and they have real problems with any funding for Ukraine. What if that bill is brought forward by the Democrats? How do you contact him?
Chairman Mike Johnson: Well, listen, the Ukraine piece is clearly on the Republican side, the most controversial, I think, the one with the most disagreement. I think there is a view that lethal aid is different from humanitarian aid. If you convert some of this financial aid into loans, it would mean a lot to a lot of people. But I think it needs to be explained to the American people why it is in America's interest to help here.
The important thing is that 68% of this package is replenishment of our own munitions, our own weapons. Those are American jobs that create advanced weapons and ammo here. A lot of those things need explaining. These need to be analyzed independently. I think we'll probably do that in this legislation and make it clear to people exactly who they're voting for and why. I think it's really important to the American people.
Reporter: Aside from being separate bills, how is this legislation different from legislation already passed by the Senate?
Chairman Johnson: Well, the underlying text will include some of our innovations with respect to accountability for funding and some of these other measures. We've talked a lot about the loan concept and for Ukraine, certainly that will be a part of that. I think you'll notice that the text differs in those ways, but the overall concept is the same. That's where the funding will be sent, and you'll see the House's opinion on it. This process works like this. These are two different rooms. I cannot be responsible for what happens in the Senate or how they do their job. I have a responsibility as the House of Representatives and we are going to do that. Thank you.
