My father, Noor and I: dealing with intergenerational trauma

[

A refugee from Iraq seems at his household's previous and wonders whether or not his childhood trauma will have an effect on his younger son.

When filmmaker Wiam al-Zabari was a younger boy, he fled Iraq in the midst of the night time together with his mom and siblings to flee Iraq within the mid-Nineteen Nineties. His ex-diplomat father had left Baghdad months earlier and was ready to affix him within the Netherlands, the place he had sought asylum. Since then, nobody within the household has talked about his escape and why he needed to go away Iraq. Now that Wiam is a father with younger kids, he displays on his painful childhood and resentment towards his father, questioning why he deserted his household after they wanted him most. He hopes that by encouraging his household to lastly speak about what occurred, he can break the cycle of intergenerational trauma. My Father, Nour and I is a documentary movie by Wiam al-Zabari.
