Katie Couric, a former journalist and cheerleader for the leftist agenda, joined Bill Maher's Sunday edition of the “Club Random” podcast.
During the conversation, Couric and Maher discussed the polarization of society and the motivations of Trump supporters.
Couric suggested that the wealth gap in America is wider than ever, and has led to class resentment. He said this resentment, combined with “jealousy” is what is driving the MAGA movement.
Couric couldn't help but also expose the intellectual snobbery that runs rampant among the elite, saying that MAGA voters are also “anti-intellectual.”
Couric argued, “Socio-economic inequalities are too high and class resentment is too high and anti-intellectualism and elitism is what is motivating many of these anti-establishment people — which are Trump voters — so, to me. “Looks like this is a big problem that we have to address.”
He added, “I mean globalization and the transition from an industrial to a technological society – I don't know if you've ever been jealous or angry at someone else – it's such a corrosive and bitter, almost bilious feeling.”
He said, “I think people who are really struggling, when they see people who have everything and are on top, look down on them, it's just this kind of anger, A recipe for resentment and complaining.”
Maher responded by saying he was “fed up” with the media's negative treatment of Trump. Furthermore, he said he wishes they (the media) understood the perspective of the typical Trump voter.

Nevertheless, Couric has indicated that she has no need to grasp Trump voters. She simply desires to stain them.
When Couric joined Maher in 2021, she advised him that Trump supporters wanted to be “deprogrammed” and referred to as Trump supporters cult members.
She advised Maher, “How are we truly going to nearly deprogram these individuals who have signed up for the cult of Trump?”
