One other shocking and surprising improvement within the saga of the arrest and imprisonment of former Ecuadorian VP Jorge Glass, as information broke that he tried suicide and is now on starvation strike in a jail in Guayaquil in protest in opposition to his arrest.
Glass, who has been convicted of corruption for the third time, having beforehand served 4 years in jail, had sought refuge on the Mexican Embassy in Quito when – in an unprecedented flip of occasions – an elite group of Ecuadorian forces stormed the Mexican Embassy. Raid in Quito, to arrest him.

A number of days later, one other dramatic chapter: it was revealed that Glass had been taken to hospital after falling sick in a jail in Guayaquil.
This got here simply hours after his legal professionals complained that they’d been unable to contact him.
