It was a happy occasion.
French officials on Wednesday named the new Olympic pool for the 2024 Games in Paris.
President Emmanuel Macron and Paris 2024 President Tony Estanguet were present for the celebrations.
And at the chosen moment officials applauded the opening of the Olympic Aquatic Center in Paris.
Located in the Seine-Saint-Denis in the city of Saint-Denis, the venue will host artistic swimming and diving events as well as the preliminary stages of water polo.
“We want to welcome the world, our athletes to win a lot of medals and it will be an incredible moment of French pride,” Macron told the audience on Wednesday.
At the same time three synchronized divers jumped on board and dived into the pool.
Except that one diver, former Olympian Alexis Jandard, flopped and fell on the diving board and then rolled into the pool.
He is alright!
French diver Alexis Jandard says his back is fine after slipping on his board while attending an opening ceremony at an Olympic aquatics center ahead of the Summer Games – but his ego is not so much.
