Florida authorities stopped a Haitian ship headed for US shores and instantly realized what was occurring

Efforts by Florida to thwart illegal immigration from Haiti were underway before Governor Ron DeSantis announced his state's increased security efforts this week.

A ship from Haiti was stopped two weeks ago with 25 refugees on board, DeSantis said during a news conference in Winter Haven on Friday.

These Haitian refugees did not present the typical image of ragged people, living on makeshift boats made of innertubes and 50-gallon drums tied together.

Rather, the video showed an apparently well-equipped boat with four large outboard marine motors.

DeSantis said there were guns, medicine and night vision equipment on the ship with the refugees.

He said the Haitians were handed over to the U.S. Coast Guard for deportation.

Despite Florida's tight security, the governor and former GOP presidential candidate lamented the relative ease with which Haitians could reach Mexico and then essentially cross the border with the blessing of President Joe Biden and his administration.

“Our Florida Fish and Wildlife officers stopped a vessel that had 25 illegal immigrants from Haiti – potential illegal immigrants – in their boat,” DeSantis said.

“They had firearms on board, they had drugs, they had night vision gear and they were sailing very recklessly, which could potentially put other people in danger,” he said.

Authorities stopped the boat at Sebastian Inlet on Florida's Atlantic coast, about 80 miles southeast of Orlando.

Along with Florida Fish and Wildlife officials, who imposed the ban, other agencies were also involved, including the Indian River County Sheriff's Department, which released a video on March 1 showing the stopped vessel.

Though preliminary stories indicated there have been 24 immigrants aboard the ship, DeSantis mentioned there have been 25. The date of the incident proven within the video was February 29.

On Wednesday, DeSantis introduced larger border safety efforts from state businesses together with the Florida State Guard and the Florida Nationwide Guard.

On Friday he signed three payments to fight unlawful immigration.

“Our guys have been doing this (enforcement) even earlier than we elevated it,” the governor mentioned throughout a information convention.

“And they’ll proceed to take action, and we’ve got an unimaginable quantity of assets that are actually on show to have the ability to cease (unlawful immigration),” he added.

“What is probably completely different in the present day from the previous?” DeSantis mentioned. “Nicely, a part of it’s that we’ve got extra assets that the state is keen to deploy.

“And that's probably not our duty – that's the federal authorities's duty. The Coast Guard typically does a superb job, however they're understaffed, they’ve much less assets. So we're filling these gaps.

“I believe one of many variations now could be – and we see this with our individuals on the border – you will have individuals coming throughout the southern border from everywhere in the world. Haitians can simply escape by flying to Mexico and strolling throughout the border. Can attain the USA.

The governor predicted that when flights from Haiti resume, most refugees will fly to Mexico “after which come by way of the border, understanding that Biden will let everybody in.”

And so it goes, as each world disaster seemingly permits Biden and different Democrats to stay in energy and safe extra illegal-immigrant voters of their continued efforts to undermine the republic. Is.
