A federal judge on Friday rebuked DOJ prosecutors for ignoring subpoenas related to Hunter Biden, while pointing out that Trump's top adviser is in jail for ignoring subpoenas issued by House members.
In September former Trump adviser Dr. Peter Navarro, 74, was convicted of criminal contempt of Congress for refusing to comply with a subpoena in the January 6 investigation of Liz Cheney.
Navarro did not comply with the subpoena because he said Trump asked him to assert executive privilege.
Hunter Biden blatantly ignored congressional subpoenas and nothing happened to him. He is a free man while Navarro remains in prison.
Biden-appointed U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes criticized Justice Department prosecutors for ignoring subpoenas issued to two DOJ lawyers in the tax division over their role in the federal investigation of Hunter Biden.
“There is a man in jail right now because you all filed a criminal case against him because he did not appear for a House summons,” Judge Reyes said, referring to Peter Navarro. “And now you people are violating those summons. …and you don't have to show it?”
According to Politico, Judge Reyes said, “I think it's quite a good thing that you guys do criminal investigations and put people in jail for not coming forward,” but then also current executive branch employees.
