Mediterranean Sea – On the open ocean, hundreds of kilometers from land, on a flimsy blue picket boat, 21-year-old Linda* from Daraa, Syria, didn't care whether or not she would reside or die.
He and 125 different refugees had left the Libyan coastal city of Sabratha at nighttime, and their solely objective was to get their sick mom to security – again house away from the battle, away from the chilly sea for which they have been drifting. With out meals or water for nearly two days.
Their boat was then intercepted by the German search and rescue vessel Humanity 1 – and Linda, her mom and others have been saved.
Within the first chaotic hours after the rescue, she wandered round on the open deck, crying. Wearing a black tracksuit with white stripes, she zigzagged between folks queuing to alter and an extended line of frozen survivors ready to see the ship's physician.
A few of them have been wrapped in shiny aluminum emergency blankets. As they walked, the voice reminded her of opening sweet luggage when she was a little bit woman.
