SoCal: Proprietor of multimillion-dollar Newport Seashore mansion shoots armed residence invader

ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. – A Newport Beach homeowner opened fire on armed home invaders Tuesday morning, prompting a large police response.

Newport Beach Police received a 911 call from a Newport Beach resident at approximately 4:45 a.m. Tuesday morning regarding a home invasion in an exclusive neighborhood in Pelican Heights.

Two women, a man and a teenager were inside the house at the time of the attack. He was not injured.

Someone inside a multimillion-dollar home shot one of two home invasion suspects. Police found a suspect lying on the road with a gunshot wound.

The Orange County Sheriff's Department SWAT team was also on the scene.

A second suspect was present in close by bushes with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the top. Police mentioned he’s useless.

Based on the police, the assault on the home was not random. The house owner and the house invasion suspect knew one another. No additional particulars about their connection have been launched to the general public.

Newport Seashore police repeatedly burdened that this was a focused residence invasion and posed no menace to the neighborhood.
