A radical leftist from Irondale, Alabama has been arrested and charged with detonating an explosive device outside the office of Attorney General Steve Marshall (R). The arrest follows a collaborative investigation by the FBI, ATF, ALEA and the Montgomery Police Department into an incident that occurred on February 24.
“In the early hours of Saturday, February 24, an explosive device was detonated outside the Alabama Attorney General's Office Building in Montgomery. Thankfully, no employee or worker was injured in the explosion. “Alabama law enforcement agencies will be leading the investigation and we are urging anyone with information to contact us immediately,” Marshall said in a statement.
As the investigation into the explosive device progressed, authorities also began investigating “suspicious” stickers with politically charged messages that had appeared on several state office buildings in the vicinity of the Attorney General's office. Documents filed in court show that some of the stickers bore the phrase “Support your local Antifa,” a term linked to violent extremist ideologies.
The following stickers were identified below:
• Antifa's logo superimposed on a rainbow flag background with the words “Anti-Fascism is Community Self-Defense.”
• Construction equipment is on fire and several trees are in the background, with a white star on the left and right sides of the banner that reads, “In solidarity with the wild.”
• Black and white image of a masked man wearing a baseball cap and holding a flag that read, “Abolish Private Property.”
• Two red roses are placed on the globe with the inscription, “Everything to everyone.”
• An image of a multi-tiered pyramid-like structure with individuals located at each level, with the words “Overthrow all hierarchies.”
• The “A” symbol, rated to represent anarchy, is superimposed on a black background with leaves and flowers, next to an image of an AK-47 rifle, with the words, “Nature protect the.”
• A purple sticker with a masked face inside a female iconography. At the top of the sticker are the words, “Feminist Action.”
• A white sticker with splatter font that reads, “Eat the Rich.” The “A” inside the word “EAT” is in the shape of an anarchy symbol.

• A black and blue sticker with white font that reads, “Death to Fascism.” A small image of a hooded mask is displayed on the upper right corner of the sticker.
• A white sticker depicting an elderly black man holding an AK-47 rifle and reading, “Arms Homeless.”
• A white sticker with black text depicts a masked and hooded man surrounded by flowers that reads, “My Body.” my choice.”
• A black and white sticker reading, “Fuck the job, riot!”
• A black sticker with white digital font that reads, “Never Work.”
• A black sticker reads in red and white font, “Friends don't let your friends be cops.” In the lower right corner of the sticker is a red anarchy symbol surrounded by a red heart.
• A white sticker with black and white font that reads, “Eliminate the Ice.” The letters of the word “ICE” are represented as melting ice cubes.
A thorough analysis of surveillance footage by the FBI was crucial in connecting the dots. The footage shows a man wearing a dark jacket, hat, mask and glasses distributing stickers at the Alabama State Capitol and later walking toward the Attorney General's office before detonating the explosive device.
The explosive device was identified as an improvised explosive device (IED), made from a coffee container filled with incendiary mixture, mortar, firecrackers and nails.
Surveillance footage also led investigators to a silver Toyota Camry, registered to Kyle Calvert, who was spotted in the area through license plate recognition technology.
Calvert's social media presence further implicated him as he appeared in photographs wearing glasses similar to the suspect's and displayed similar stickers found at crime scenes.
Calvert's own uploaded material, including a video where he discusses his propensity towards violence, and testimony from former employers who recognized his ruse, strengthened the case against him.
The Justice Department announced Wednesday that Calvert is charged with malicious use of an explosive and possession of an unregistered destructive device. Attorney General Steve Marshall expressed relief at the arrest and stressed the importance of a collaborative effort in capturing Calvert.
The Attorney General confirmed that it was a targeted attack.
“My staff and I are breathing a collective sigh of relief this morning, knowing that this individual has been taken off the streets. Although more information will be provided in the coming weeks, I think it is safe to say that this was not a random act of violence. We are grateful to our federal and local partners for their assistance in this case and are pleased that the perpetrator will face federal charges and face significant prison time,” Attorney General Marshall Said,
