The House Judiciary Committee Subcommittee on the Constitution and Limited Government is currently hosting a hearing on freedom of the press and the safety of journalists, as the Biden administration attempts to infringe on the rights of the press and shape news stories to fit their narrative.

Representative Chip Roy, opening the hearing at 9:30 a.m. ET, commented, “Today's hearing is about protecting our fundamental freedoms and protecting journalists and their sources from these attacks. We will investigate the federal government's infringement on freedom of the press and examine the possibilities of a federal shield law.

Witnesses include investigative journalists Katherine Herridge and Sharyl Attkisson and Mary Cavallaro, chief broadcast officer of the SAG-AFTRA News and Broadcasting Department.

Recall that last month, Emmy-winning and nominated reporter Katherine Herridge, known for her work on national security and intelligence, was fired by an Obama-appointed federal agent for refusing to reveal her confidential sources related to a blockbuster story. Was held guilty of civil contempt by the judge. How is China infiltrating American universities?

The judge ordered Herridge to turn over his source in response to a lawsuit filed against the FBI by Chinese-American scientist Yanping Chen. Chen subpoenaed Herridge in an attempt to find out who his sources were. When Herridge refused, he was threatened with contempt charges and possible jail time.

JUST IN: Chinese-American scientist asks court to expedite appeal so Katherine Herridge faces an $800-a-day contempt fine for refusing to give up her confidential sources as soon as possible.
