Last Week Tonight, John Oliver did an updated episode on the death penalty in America, where he perfectly summed up what's wrong with red-state Republicans in Alabama.
Oliver said:
And earlier this year, Alabama conducted the first nitrogen gas execution, which, by all accounts, was absolutely terrifying. A witness described the dying man as fighting for his life. And another person who witnessed five executions said that it was certainly the most violent execution I have ever seen.
It is all very sad that the state AG later won this victory thanks to his entire execution team. 'Everyone in this room knows they are the first team in the country to perform nitrogen. And what happened last night was textbook. They deserve much thanks and credit for being willing to be the first in the country to do this, and I now suspect many states will follow suit. As of last night, nitrogen epoxy is no longer an unused method as a means of execution. This is proven.

Yes, they called it textbook execution, which I would call textbook bullshit. And by the way, Alabama, do you ever get tired of being the leader in all the worst ways? The history of your state is simply that of the brave citizens of Alabama protesting because your leaders are the last to do something good or the first to do something terrible.

Proof collected by Oliver and his group reveals that the state and the Trump administration are acquiring the medication used within the executions from a manufacturing facility that’s making them illegally and discusses the barbaric strategies by which they’re used. With the state pushing for executions of criminals, this episode was a worthy follow-up to the 2 earlier works on the topic by Final Week Tonight.
It's a disgrace that Warner Bros./Discovery has adopted the silly coverage of not posting Final Week Tonight clips till Thursday as a result of John Oliver's newest episode is actually a matter of life and dying.
