A porch pirate got more than he expected after falling into a creative trap set by a fed-up Queens homeowner Saturday.
As the New York Post reports, Carlos Mejia was “fed up” with thieves trying to steal parcels from his door and decided to take matters into his own hands. Last week, he started leaving “decoy packages” outside his door, in hopes of catching a crook in the act.
Mejia explained to Storyful that he wanted to “make an example to people who are doing the same thing, stealing from others.”
On Saturday he got one to bite. Video from Mejia's home security system shows a young man walking through his yard, approaching the front steps. Then he picks up a box and tries to stuff it in his bag.
Mejia suddenly comes out of the house armed with a baseball bat, surprising the suspect.
“Oh, fucker, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, I didn't want anybody to take her, brother!” shouted the porch pirate.
“I show no regrets! Get on your knees!” Mejia yelled.

Additional footage reveals the thief making an attempt to flee by leaping a fence, however Mejia tackles him to the bottom and holds him down till police arrive.
Police arrested the porch pirate, later recognized as 36-year-old Victor Stazone. He’s seen shouting loudly that he wants an ambulance and moaning about his arm.
“Officer, what am I being arrested for?” Stazone inadvertently asks the query whereas being positioned in handcuffs.
Stazone was booked on fees of petty theft, legal possession of stolen property and legal trespass.
